Weigh-In Wednesday Week 19

Update:
Starting Weight (1/5/2009) - 283.4
End of Week 18 (5/13/2009) - 268.8 lbs.
End of Week 19 (5/20/2009) - 260 lbs
Loss - 8.8 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 23.4 lbs.
110 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

It was my first full week back on the wagon and it went very well.
Though I'm not officially doing Weight Watchers anymore, what can I say, I'm cheap,
I've been following the point system to a "T" this week. I journaled all of my food and stayed within my allotted points. I didn't even need any of my "extra" points.
I find the Weight Watchers plan the easiest diet plan to follow because of it's flexibility.
They don't tell you what you can and can not eat. (Because, if you're anything like me, if you tell me not to eat it, IT'S the first thing I want!)
You eat what you want, when you want as long as you stay within your points. Once you're out of points, you're done eating for the day.
You're allotted 35 "extra" points a week to use however you want. This comes in handy when I've got a sweet tooth or a party to go to. You don't have to use the "extra" points.
It's totally up to you.
See, I wasn't lying when I said it was EASY.
I still haven't gotten back into a consistent work-out routine.
If working out was as easy at following Weight Watchers, I'd be skinny already.
I'm hoping to start a work-out program June 1st.
More to come on that later...

I'll be at the river this weekend for the Memorial Day holiday.
There will be LOTS of drinking and eating involved.
Lets hope the scale doesn't totally backfire on me next week.

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 18

Update:
Starting Weight (1/5/2009) - 283.4
End of Week 12 (4/01/2009) - 266 lbs.
End of Week 18 (5/13/2009) - 268.8lbs
Gain + 2.8 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 14.6 lbs.
118.8 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

My last weigh-in, here at my blog, was 6 weeks ago.
6 LONG weeks ago.
I've been busy.
Not dieting.
Eating a lot more than I should.
Staying away from the gym.
Going to concerts.
Watching a lot of sports.
And drinking LOTS.OF.ALCOHOL.

I guess you could say I fell off the wagon.
I'm not happy about it, but it happens.
The fact that I only gained 2.8 pounds in 6 weeks is pretty amazing.
I jumped back on the wagon Monday.
I promise to weigh-in more regularly.
Even if I don't like what the scale says.

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 12

Update:
Starting Weight (1/5/2009) - 283.4
End of Week 11 (3/25/2009) - 267.2 lbs.
End of Week 12 (4/01/2009) - 266 lbs
Loss - 1.2 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 17.4 lbs.
116 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

Boy, isn't that cartoon the truth?!?!?
It never fails...
the first place I lose weight is in the chest, and frankly, I like my bewbs.
They're the perfect size, the only part of my body that I can really flaunt and now you wanna take my only self-esteem lifter away?!?!? Seriously?
I never want to see them go, and yet they always do.
Of the 17+ pounds I've lost, I can almost guarantee that 1/2 of that is from the chest.
How do I know?
Because I haven't had to buy new pants yet, yes they are looser, but still not smaller.
I did need a smaller bra a week ago.
I'm not complaining...
Really, I'm not!
I'll take weight loss in any capacity.
I'm just suggesting that the weight-loss wealth be shared with my ass, thighs and stomach.
I'm just sayin'...
Is that too much to ask?

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 11

Update:
Starting Weight (1/5/2009) - 283.4
End of Week 10 (3/18/2009) - 268.4 lbs.
End of Week 11 (3/25/2009) - 267.2 lbs
Loss - 1.2 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 16.2 lbs.l
117.2 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

I'm back...
After a 2 week weigh-in hiatus.
I did weigh-in while I was away, I just didn't blog about it. There was nothing to blog, I didn't lose/gain, which is pretty shocking considering it was Rodeo season here in Houston.

Starting Monday, I jumped back in to things hard-core.
I've got a new motivation, I'm going on a 7 day cruise at the end of September, and I've set my sights on the trip. I plan on hitting the gym a minimum 3 days a week and I'm watching my diet even more, 1 free day a week (Sunday) is all I will be allowing myself to splurge. Otherwise, I will be sticking to my allotted Weight Watchers Points and attending my weekly meetings.

My short term goal is to lose 60 pounds before departing on September 27. 60 is definitely a BIG number, and would get me about 50 pounds away from my total goal weight of 150 pounds. I believe that I can do it and am going to give it my all. That's 10 pounds a month for the next 6 months folks, keep your fingers crossed. I'll definitely keep you updated.

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 8

Update:
Starting Weight (1/5/2009) - 283.4
End of Week 7 (2/25/2009) - 273 lbs.
End of Week 8 (3/4/2009) - 268.4 lbs
Loss - 4.6 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 15 lbs.
118.4 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

It was a week/weekend full of packing and moving. I was stressed. I walked up and down 3 flights of stairs about 200 times. I wasn't sure what this week would hold after last weeks gain. I was hoping for a BIGGER loss, but I'll take the 4.6 pounds and work so much harder in the coming week. Sounds positive, right?
I've added a new motivation to my weight loss mission. I'm going on a cruise in September and, really, who wants to be FAT on a cruise? I've got 6 months to drop as much weight as I can.

How are you all doing?

Happy Hump Day and may the rest of the week FLY by.

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 6

Update:
Starting Weight (1/5/2009) - 283.4
End of Week 5 (2/11/2009) - 272.6 lbs.
End of Week 6 (2/18/2009) - 268 lbs
Loss - 4.6 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 15.4 lbs.
118 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

There is no RESOLUTION BUSTING going on here.
I'm back on track...

I'm eating smarter, working out and staying positive.

Things to ponder:
Does anyone else think it's a total conspiracy that the beginning of the year brings so many "candy" & beer drinkin' holidays? What's a dieter to do?

Things that help me:
I don't totally deprive myself.
If I want a Cadbury Creme Egg I have one, not 5, just one!!!
I've learned that if I totally give up eating/drinking all of my "favorite" things, for good, as soon as I lose the weight and start eating/drinking those things again the weight will come back, and usually double.
So go out and eat/drink things that you crave, just make sure it's in moderation. You know, so instead of 12 green beers on St. Patrick's Day maybe cut back to 2.

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 5 (I'm late, it's Thursday)

Update:
End of Week 4 (2/4/2009) - 270.4
End of Week 5 (2/11/2009) - 272.6
Gain + 2.2 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 10.8 lbs.
122.6 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

It was a particularly non-diet-following week, which has no doubtedly led to my first gain of the year.
Actually, my eating habits are great during the day, when I'm at work. I bring breakfast, lunch and some snacks with me, to help curb the cravings and the runs to the vending machine. It's the nights that do me in. Especially those nights when I'm out and about and McDonald's is calling my name as I drive by.
I'm not too worried about the gain. I was pretty much expecting it I will just have to bear down and focus on sticking to my work-out routine and healthier eating more strictly. I 100% plan on losing my gained pounds plus some in week 6.

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 4

Update:
End of Week 3 (1/28/2009) - 271.0
End of Week 4 (2/4/2009) - 270.4
Lost - .6 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 13 lbs.
120.4 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

Not a BIG loss again, but it's more than I expected. Week 4 was a rough week. I've been so hungry ALL.WEEK.LONG. My least favorite monthly visitor and the SUPER BOWL, in the same week, did not help the situation.

I know...
Excuses, excuses, excuses....

I am the Queen of Excuses. I've got an excuse for EVERYTHING.
It's time for me to let go of the excuses and to get REAL.

Though I've done well and stuck to my healthier eating, my work out regime could use a BIG boost. That's why I've proclaimed week 5 - NO EXCUSES WEEK!

Will you join me?

Weigh-In Wednesday Week 3

Update:
End of Week 2 (1/21/2009) - 273.8

End of Week 3 (1/28/2009) - 271.0
Lost - 2.8 lbs.
Total YTD loss - 12.4 lbs.
121 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

It's been another good week. I've made it to the gym, stuck to my healthier choices and despite a never ending hunger, thanks to an impending cycle, I've logged another significant loss for the month. I'm staying focused and positive, and that is definitely helping.

How are you all doing with your New Year's goals and resolutions?

2 weeks down...

a LIFETIME to go.
It's officially Weigh-In Wednesday!
(that's what I'm calling it now)

Update: End of Week 1 (1/14/2009) - 274.2
End of Week 2 (1/21/2009) - 273.8

Lost - 0.4 lbs.

Total YTD loss - 9.6 lbs.
123.8 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight

In the past a very small weight loss number would have scared me and probably thrown me right off track.
As a veteran "dieter" I now know that it's not unusual to have little to no weight loss after a BIG loss week, and it probably doesn't help that my favorite monthly visitor should be making a visit soon.
A loss is a loss and I'll take it no matter how BIG or small it might be.

I've continued to do my part, so I have nothing to look down on myself about. I'm eating better, working out and I've had a positive attitude since the start. I'm motivated to make it all work this time and with that I know I will.

It's been 1 week...

and I feel great!!!

It's officially the end of my first week to a healthier me and this is my weekly check in with the blogosphere.

Update:
Starting Weight (Jan. 5, 2009) - 283.4 lbs.
End of week 1 (Jan. 14, 2009) - 274.2 lbs.
Total lost - 9.2 lbs.
124.2 lbs. to go to reach final goal weight
(I never in a MILLION years thought I would post my weight on-line for the ENTIRE Internet to see. I must be crazy, right? No, I just figure if I'm going to share my journey I need to be honest and tell the WHOLE story, even the not so pretty side of things. No excuses...)

I've done miraculously well food watching for the past week. I've been sure to eat breakfast EVERY day, I've raised my fruit/vegetable intake and I've been drinking enough water to fill a small wading pool. It was all pretty easy in week 1. I know that it may not be this easy every week, but I feel a motivation and desire to lose the weight this time that I've not felt before. Where the motivation is coming from, I'm not sure, but I'm damn happy it's with me.

The fitness front, because I know you are all wondering, is going well so far. I started my new work-out regiment on Monday. I'm not gonna lie, it was hard to get in to the gym. I've not worked out on a regular basis in many, many years and I wasn't too sure how I would do. I was ready to quit about 5 minutes into my elliptical machine work out, but forced myself not to give up so easily and to push on. I did and 2 miles and 25 minutes later I was done and then I did it all over again on Tuesday. It's amazing how revived you feel after working out. I absolutely forgot what that felt like and I think I like it.

I was not able to make it to the gym today, my dentist visit this afternoon totally cut in to my new routine, but I hope to pick up with it again tomorrow.

I hope that you are all sticking to your new years goals and thank you so much for the happy comments and good luck wishes.

Until next week...

Quickie Update...

My usual "resolution" updates are going to come on Wednesdays, but I thought I'd post a quickie tonight...

I finally did it!!!!
I've been a member of my local gym since August but have not stepped foot inside since I joined.
That is until TODAY.
I did 35 minutes of cardio (that's about all I could handle on my first day) and 5 minutes of abs, sure I thought I might die when I was done, but I feel great now. It's one of many first steps to a better me in 2009.

I've added a Weight Loss tracker to my sidebar courtesy of Ticker Factory. I'll be updating my losses & gains on Wednesdays. My weight loss goal is 130 pounds total. I don't expect to reach my goal in a year, as stated in my previous post my goal for 2009 is 50 pounds, though more would be FANTASTIC.

Thanks to everyone for their AWESOME words of encouragement. I really do appreciate the support.

And now back to your regularly scheduled programming...

2009 - My resolution...

(it's an old cartoon.)

We're 7 days into the new year and I'm finally getting around to posting my resolutions for 2009.
Like millions of Americans I want to lose weight. I always want to lose weight. In fact, my resolution EVERY year is to lose weight. So I thought I would change things up a bit for 2009...

Year after year I have vowed to lose weight in the new year; and year after year I have failed miserably. Sure, I start off on the right track. I'll lose 10 or 20 pounds and then get lazy and cheat, all the hard work, will power & dedication down the drain. I'll put the pounds, plus about 10, back on and go about my year being fat and miserable.

My resolution this year isn't just to lose weight. My main goal is to start working out on a regular basis again. I'm resolving to hit the gym at least 3 days a week, for 45 minutes or more each day. I'm hoping that this will jump start my weight loss mission. I know that once I can motivate myself to go to the gym consistently the eating better and weight loss will fall into place. I've lost the weight before (75 pounds in 9 months back in 2000) so I know I can do it. It's the getting started part that holds me back year after year and I'm telling you, the Internet, that this year will be different.

I'll be keeping a daily journal for myself and posting my progress here for the entire Blogosphere to see. I'll even weigh-in on a monthly basis, my goal is to be down 50 pounds (or more) by the end of December 2009.
Not only will I be accountable to myself, I'll be accountable to you, the Internet.

Good luck to any of my fellow blogging buddies that have resolved to make 2009 a better year, I know I'm going to need all the luck I can get!
