BFL - the FINAL week...

I hope that everyone had a great holiday.
I can not believe that the new year is upon us; it will be here before we know it. With the new year brings the end to the regular football season. My fantasy football season was horrendous and my BFL picks were ok, but NEVER good enough to win. Maybe the final week will prove to be better.

I'm keeping it pretty short and sweet this week. Here are my picks...

BFL - Week 16...Nope, I'm still not a winner.

You already know the answer...
It's been the same answer all season, but I'm ok with it. I've pretty much come to grips with the fact that I will NOT be winning a BFL badge this year. Oh well, there's always next season, right?

It's week 16 in the National Football League. There are 2 regular season weeks left. It's the WIN or go HOME part of the season. The play-offs are right around the corner and there are still quite a few available spots.

I figured I would give props to my home town team, the Houston Texans, this week Yes, it's true, they struggled at the beginning of the season. Ok, so maybe it was a little bit longer than just the beginning, but they've turned it around. For the first time in their short 7 year existence the Texans have WON 4 games in a row. They're headed to Oakland on Sunday, will they make it 5? Their chances look pretty good! A win on Sunday would give the Texans an 8-7 record with one game to go. Could the Texans possibly finish the season 9-7? If they do it will be the first time EVER that the Texans have had a WINNING record. I hope they do it! The Texans have a good team, they just have lots of BAD luck. (need I remind you all of the home game against Indy where Indy scored 21 points in the last 4 minutes of the game to WIN, if that's not bad luck I don't know what is. LOL)
The Texans have no hope of making the play-offs. But that won't matter in the last 2 weeks of the season. The Texans, for the next 2 weeks, will continue to fight and play their hearts out. The last 2 weeks will be about winning and bringing Houston their first winning season in Texans history.
And I'll be rooting for them loud and proud.

BFL - Week 15...I give up!

So, I’m officially waving my white flag and I’ve given up all hope of EVER winning the coveted BFL badge. Yes, I know it’s only week 15, and yes, I know I still have 3 chances to win, but I’m definitely not getting my hopes up. Week 14 was another good week for me, I was 12 - 4, but yet again it was not good enough. It came down to the Monday night game, all I needed was for Tampa Bay to win and for the combined score to be over 49 points. Well the combined score worked out, but not so much on the winning thing. Carolina won the game and Radio Carla won her 2^nd week in a row going 14 – 2. Congrats Carla.

BFL - Week 14...will this be MY week?

Another week of football has passed and I have yet to win the coveted BFL Badge. Though, I did come damn close in week 13. I was 10-6, not too shabby, right? Yeah, well it wasn't good enough. Radio Carla beat me out by one measly game, she was 11-5. So it's back to the drawing board for me.
On a positive note, the Texans won their MNF game. It was the first MNF game in our 7 year team history, so yeah, we're undefeated on Monday night. It's the little things that excite me!

Blogger Football League - Week 13

Happy Thanksgiving!!

This is the Thanksgiving edition of my Blogger Football League picks. For those of you keeping track, yes, I was a BFL LOSER yet again this week. The Football Gods just don't like me very much this season. But, even so, I would like to give thanks to those Football Gods for keeping me close from week to week.

Middle Aged Woman took home the badge for week 12. She was 12-4 for the week, which totally beat out my 8-8, which surprisingly enough wasn't the worst record for the week, that honor went to Domestic Extraordinaire, she was 6-10. I'm just happy relieved that someone finally stripped InstaMom of the badge. We totally couldn't have her winning for a 3rd week in a row, flu or no flu!

Blogger Football League - Week 11 picks...

Wow, so last week was my best BFL week to date and I still didn't walk away with the WINNERS badge. Instead all I have to show for a great week of picking is the LOSERS badge above! Insta-Mom, Headless Mom & I all tied with 11 correct picks for the week. It came down to points and Insta-Mom took it home with a prediction of 44 (the combined score of Monday night's game was 53) I was just a bit behind her with 39. I'm a little bitter, but it's back to the drawing board this week. Can I make it another stellar week? Will I finally win the badge I covet oh so badly? Only time will tell....

Blogger Football League - Week 8 picks...

Football is, after all, a wonderful way to get rid of your aggressions without going to jail for it.

The Football season is at its half way point and so many unexpected things have happened to date:

• Tom Brady is out for the season and NE is coping without him. Brady going down in the first week of the season really SUCKED for those fantasy football owners that picked him in the first round.
  
• The Tennessee Titans are the only undefeated team left. Whouda thunk it?
• The Colts are struggling to win.
  
• Romo is out for a few weeks with a broken pinkie and the Cowboys have lost 2 in row. (I'm not complaining.) All those pre-season Super Bowl predictions may fall short.
  
• The Bills are 5-1, really the Bills?
• Detroit & Cincy are both still win less.

In a season of ups and downs it's been hard to accurately predict the winners. I've only had 1 really BAD week and a whole LOT of middle of the road weeks. I was 9-5 in week 7. Not too bad, but not great either. It wasn't enough to win and that's the bottom line.
Tom & Amy both went 11-3 for the week, but Tom beat her out in the end by predicting closest to the MNF score. Yeah, Amy's not too happy about it and I'm sure she'll be clawing for that winners badge this week even more than before, since she's lost 2 weeks in a row. Congrats Tom!!!

Last week was a good football weekend. No, I didn't win the coveted Blogger Football League badge, though I wasn't too far off, the badge is being shared by Maura & RadioCarla. They both went 10-4 with a tie breaker score of 37. Congrats to you both, I am so ENVIOUS JEALOUS!!!!
Texas started of the weekend by beating Oklahoma and taking over the #1 spot in the college football polls. Hook'em Horns!!!!
The Texans added to the weekend by FINALLY winning a game. Lets hope that the streak keeps on this week against Detroit. For the second week in a row they are NOT the under-dogs, so who knows what'll happen.
